First Anniversary

Hard to believe, but it has now been one year since I left my last paying, full-time job. I suppose I should have taken the transfer, because my decision to stay put obviously has created a great following. Others have left their jobs, and we are now at unemployment levels not seen in 40 years! Sometimes it is tough being a person who is always ahead of the curve.

No solid job leads this week. I did get a nibble from a recruiter for a job in South Carolina. However, the company really needs someone with a long background in municipal wastewater treatment systems, not industrial like mine. No problem - once again, I don't have to move.

My contact from the Unemployment service called yesterday and told me about a job at a waste company in Decatur. I promised to look into the opportunity (and will submit my resume just in case the state checks). However, the company really has a bad reputation out there, and last year I applied for a job with them (but never received a response of any type).

Back to the anniversary - interestingly it came on April 1 (April Fool's Day). I think I might have to cogitate on that for some time to see if there is any real significance. Likely not - merely a coincidental date.

On Wednesday (that special, AFD), Black Beauty brought me a present. It was the LARGEST field mouse (if that in fact was what it was) I have ever seen! The rodent had a body that appeared to be 4 or 5 inches long. It was huge! Naturally, the other three had to go outside and see the trophy. It was "lost" in the ivy by the fish ponds. Off to breed again. BK is out hunting for kith and kin of the giant.

Enough of a break. Time to review the job listing I was directed to and submit my resume. That will be three times I have sent in resumes this week (the others were to recruiters). Things are looking up.
